‘Destination Calabria’ is the single that elevated Alex to the level of his Data label mates Eric Prydz and Fedde le Grand – it reached Number 1 in the European Dance charts in May 2007 and has already achieved the following national chart positions - No.1 in Belgium, No.4 in UK, No.6 in France, No. 10 in Holland and, after worldwide releases including Australia, USA, Japan, South America the track was, and still is, truly is massive on a global scale! Alex Gaudino began his adventure in the music business in Italy in 1993 at the famous Flying Records and UMM. In 1998 with the support of Giacomo Maiolini, owner of the legendary TIME Records, Alex founded RISE Records, which soon became one of the most respected European labels, signing hit records like The Tamperer and Black Legend - Alex is the only Italian A&R who had two No. 1’s in the UK sales chart. Then the massive hit “Bang” by Robbie Rivera soon followed - which got him nominated as best European A&R at the European Music Awards in London in 2000. In this period he also increased his activity as a producer with two singles in 2003 featuring big names such as Crystal Waters and Ultra Natè. Alex is also behind the projects Supacupa and Sambatucada (Gaudino da Costa) and his remix of “Is it Cos I’m Cool” by Mousse T marked the summer 2004.Then Lil’ Love “Little Love” was nominated by Musica & Dischi as the best Italian dance record of 2005 and was released by Positiva in the UK and reached the top of all the club charts 2006 began with the remixes of Pete Tong & Chris Cox (Deep End), Mousse T (Horny) and James Kakande (You You You), and the year progressed with the releases on Ministry of Sound of Alex’s single “Reaction” and on Hed Kandi of his Blue Lipstick project “Head over Heels”. “Destination Calabria” had been building itself a cult following since it began life as ‘Magic Destination’, a track Alex put together with his studio partner Maurizio Nari back in 2003, which featured vocals by Crystal ‘Gypsy Woman’ Waters. Jim Tonique was called in on remix duties, and to add a little something special to his mix, he replayed the irresistible sax hook of the Ibiza classic by Rune, ‘Calabria’. It then turned out to be one of the most sought after records over the coming months becoming best dance record at the prestigious Popkopmm conference. Alex is also a talented producer of other artists’ tracks and has an impressive list of remixes to his name including Ultra Natè – “Automatic”, Sunburst “Beautiful Day”, MYNC & Roachford – “Ride The Storm”, Se:sa – “Like This Like That”, Ana – “De Vulve”, Doc Da Funk – “Real Love” as well as The Feeling, Wiley and Freemasons in addition to being a very in demand and respected DJ. Alex has gained a huge amount of press attention in Europe and worldwide including numerous covers on ONLY FOR DJ MAGAZINE in France and JOCKS MAG in Italy and a massive feature in Italy’s most popular daily newspaper LA STAMPA and with a packed diary of DJ dates in France, Italy, UK, Malta, Spain, Russia, Austria, Morocco, Turkey, Ibiza, Australia and more……plus he started his weekly radio show – listen in every Friday from 12 – 1pm and Saturday from 5 - 6pm on www.ministryofsound.com/radio 2008 was another incredible year for Alex with “Watch Out!” featuring Shena once again voted best track at Berlin’s Popkomm and going to Number 1 in the Cool Cuts chart and gaining major radio play two months before it’s release in June 2008. Alex comes back to Destination Calabria’s saxy vibe sampling the 80’s big afro hit Pig Bag “Papa’s Got A Brand New Pig Bag”. 2009 can only prove to be another hugely successful year with collaborations including Simply Red and Russia’s leading dj-producer, DJ Smash as well as an Album ‘My Destination’ in the pipeline.
